The Dentaprox allows doctors to achieve optimal broad contacts with exceptional control on placement. It is quick and easy using either a Sectional Matrix or Toffelmire Matrix System.

The Marteney is pre-loaded like the ring systems. To open the tongs, turn the knob clockwise. This pushes the yoke forward by expanding the tongs and allowing for the placement between the teeth. Set the clasping separators over the wedge, engage the wedge, and turn the knob counterclockwise pulling the yoke back. This engages the clasping separators inter-proximally.

The apically concave design of the clasping separators allows for the simultaneous placement and stabilization of any wedge system: Sectional or Toffelmire. The wedge’s purpose is to seal the gingival margin as the Dentaprox separates the teeth. Prior to placement of any matrix, the preparation design allows for no unsupported enamel rods. Before burnishing the matrix band to the adjacent tooth, the wedge is secured by the Dentaprox part of the clasp. this yields the most ideal anatomical contour. Holding down the separating clasps with a finger works well and adds to stabilization as the yoke is released.

Dentaprox’s main advantage over the ring systems is that it can be used in conjunction with a Toffelmire more efficiently. The DentaproxToffelmire combination can be used in several ways.

1. The Toffelmire band can remain in place with the use of the Dentaprox.

2. The Toffelmire band can also be repositioned out-of-the way still attached to the band and the Dentaprox placed.

3. The Toffelmire can also be completely removed allowing the band to stand freely, being held in place by wedges. This is very convenient especially when performing MOD restorations.
